Devanagari text, word-for-word meanings, and English translation. Commentary based on that of Shankara with the gloss of Anandagiri.
The first edition, which was published in anonymously in 1945, was prepared by Swami Jagadiswarananda. In the present edition, the book has been thoroughly revised by Swami Madhavananda.

Sub-title: An exposition in the light of modern thought and modern needs. This illuminating and inspiring work was originally presented as a series of weekly lectures in the 1980s at the Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad. Particular emphasis is given in these talks to the sections of the Upanisad especially relevant to the globally concerned, modern mind.
